I made this photograph two years ago and still remember being there as if it was yesterday – that is a wonderful aspect of photography because everything is more memorable when looking for images.

It took over half an hour to make this photograph. I set up a tripod to frame the scene and then waited for the wave to crash. Another photographer noticed the scene I was taking and then raced over to take handheld photos of the scene. In their total self absorption they kept taking photos and ignored that I was there. Unfortunately, I do not live in the US so I did not have a hand gun to remedy the situation. They eventually went away and it took about 20 minutes to see and capture the perfect wave crash shape. This scene is at Botannical Beach on Vancouver Island. I still remember the sound of the ocean and can still feel the warmth of the sun.
