I was always wanting to capture a great horse drawn carriage image but automobile traffic was always in the way or the background was distracting. The carriages were parked about a block away waiting for tourists. I chatted with this young woman and discovered that she was soon going back home to the UK where her family lives. She had been here earning a degree and was doing this job as she loves horses.
I asked her if it would be possible to get a photo of her in front of the BC legislature and that I would give her a free photo. You can see people in the background taking pictures of the carriage. She was delighted with the photo and I also bought her lunch to show my appreciation.
It never hurts to ask people - the worst that they can say is no. I no longer search in desperation for carriage images.
