Description
This images capture instant moment that the logs slide off of the log delivery ship. It is a slow process that requires skill to not capsize the ship. I waited two hours as the ship slowly tilted with my camera on a tripod to be ready when the logs slid off. It took over 30 tense minutes for them to fall off when I thought it would happen any time. They make quite the noise when the moment happens.
I knew someone that is a crane operator on these ships. He found out the time and location of the delivery so that I could capture the moment, The clouds were wonderful that morning.
The log delivery was for a mill located in Ladysmith harbour, BC Canada. A large tugboat delivers the log barge accompanied by small tugboats to keep the logs there and to monitor that any other boat traffic stays a safe distance away.
